Greetings, CITP fans. Such a wonderful concert experience on Sunday – starting with the stars of the show - the wonderful muso’s who graced the band-stand were just brilliant and had concert-goers enthralled. Kicking off with Sonik Citizen – Marc Fransman is a muso extraordinaire. He has talent coming out of his very musical ears and if you haven’t heard him, do make plan! Followed by The Rudimentals – they really are the most engaging and fun-filled band you could wish to see. The crowd absolutely loved them and the energy levels went through the canopy! Finally, our headline performer, Kahn Morbee. Such passion - his music just gets under your skin and goes straight to your heart and boom, you’re enraptured!
But, it wasn’t only the music that was amazing - the crowd that attended Sunday’s performance, were just wonderful too. We’d like to take a moment to reflect on this. The idea behind these concerts is to make quality music available to everyone. That’s why the concerts are FREE. So that anyone who has an appreciation for beautiful music can come along, with family and friends (furry ones too), to enjoy a top quality musical experience.
And Sunday’s concert was a beautiful example of how music can unite and delight different people from all walks of life. There was such a happy atmosphere and as we walked around the park, it was clear to see that pretty much everyone was having a wonderful time. For those few hours of the concert, it felt like everyone enjoying the concert in De Waal Park had become a community, united in music. And that was very special to see and experience.
And we look forward to the next concert in confidence that this wonderful spirit of community that presides over our lovely concerts will once again cast its love and positivity over all those who attend.
Hello again, CITP fans! Hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to the New Year and wishing you all a happy and prosperous 2017. We’re excited to start off the year with our 2nd concert of this season on Sunday. And what a concert it’s going to be!
The enigmatic Kahn Morbee (from The Parlotones) will be headlining for us on Sunday. He’ll be supported by Mother City music stalwarts, The Rudimentals and the primo talented Sonik Citizen will be kicking off proceedings. We are over the moon to have artists of this calibre performing on our grand old dame of a band-stand and can’t wait to see them live in action.
It’s been a heck of a month, it must be said. From having to move the concert location from Wynberg Park back to De Waal Park then to pushing the starting time forward from 4pm to 3pm. We even had a wobble earlier this week that put the entire concert in jeopardy! Yep, it’s been a bumpy few weeks. Very thankfully, we’ve ironed all those 11th hour creases and are now smooth sailing towards Sunday and a successful musical matinee.
Do join us - the winds might be fresh, but the skies will be clear, the setting will be gorgeous and the music, of course, will be ‘wunderful’.
