Hi CITP fans! Well, sadly our concert series for this season is drawing to a close and our final concert will be happening on Sunday featuring Freshlyground, The Rudimentals and opening act Skyscrapers. It has been a fantastic series and every concert has been a delight. It’s always so heartening to see Cape Town communities from far and wide coming together to form one big concert community, and just having a wonderful time together. Whoever said ‘Capetonians’ aren’t friendly hasn’t been to a FREE Concert in the Park!
And aside from the sublime music we’ve enjoyed so far, there have also been a fair few giveaways! Our first Scar hair voucher & Jimmy Nevis signed CITP t-shirt has recently had her hair done and here is the pic!
Congratulations, Marguerite – your hair looks lovely!
We also had some winners from our most recent concert, featuring Hotwater & Mark Haze. That was such a lovely show, and so much fun! Mark Haze is such a fantastic musician; wow can he sing! He performed some of his classic hits, as well as his very catchy latest single, ‘Shake What Your Mama Gave You’. Headliners, Hotwater, had the crowd eating out of their hands. From Donavan Copley climbing a ladder on stage (literally!) to inviting members of the audience to come and dance with the band on stage. They featured well-known hits such as Wamkelekile as well as a lovely version of the Click song, sung by Xoliswa Tom. We’ll be posting the winners of this concert in our next blog.
We’re really looking forward to an epic final concert on Sunday. With such a fine line-up of artists performing, how can it not be? Youngsters band, Skyscrapers, will kicking off with catchy indie-pop tunes. If you haven’t heard of them or seen them, you should get to the park at 3pm on Sunday. These kids will blow your mind with their talent. Support band will be the inimitable Rudimentals – they have performed many times at our concerts and we just love them. They have so much energy, and are such amazing performers. Our final act will be Freshlyground!! What can we say… they are such brilliant musicians and we’re super-excited to have them finish off this series for us (we might be in danger of being star-struck on Sunday ;)!
So, that’s it for this post – get to De Waal Park on Sunday at 3pm. Miss this one and you’ll have to wait till next summer to see another one. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Sunday!
Hi CITP fans! Wow, we’re approaching the end of this series already! Only two more concerts left… but the series up till now has been pretty darn awesome, don't you think? Last Sunday’s concert (on 19 Feb), was a triumph. Cape Town musicians The Rockets along with Mr Jimmy Nevis truly blew us all out of the park! The amount of people who came to see the show was phenomenal. And the atmosphere was equally so. And yes, we do say this about every concert, but it’s true. There is always such a happy vibe at these concerts. And if you haven’t yet attended one, then please do make a plan. We have our penultimate concert coming up on Sunday, 5 March – Mark Haze and Hot Water will be rocking the band-stand and it’s bound to be a mega shindig of note!
For those who came to the previous concert, you might remember that we were giving away a couple of prizes. The first prize, a Van Hunks restaurant voucher went to a lovely lady called Charmaine, who had come to see the concert from all the way out in Table View! Congrats again, Charmaine, we are sure you will enjoy your dining experience at Van Hunks.
Here is Charmaine accepting her voucher. With her is Chris Boje (left) from Van Hunks Restaurant and Concerts’ very own Charles Lindsay-Bowman.
The other big giveaway of the the last concert was a R1,500 voucher from Scar hair, as well as a Concerts in the Park t-shirt signed by Jimmy Nevis!! The lucky recipient of that mega giveaway was a lady called Marguerite - we have been told that she and a couple of her besties will be sharing the voucher and once they've had their makeovers, we will be sure to post their pics!
So, guys - that's is for this post. If you'd like to be in line to win a Van Hunks Voucher or a Scar hair voucher to the value of R1,500 along with a CITP t-shirt signed by Donovan Copley from Hot Water and Mark Haze, then you need to make sure you're at Sunday's concert. That's the only way to be in the running, so please make a plan guys - if you miss it, you'll miss out!
