Hello again, CITP fans! Well, the year is coming to a close and December is flying as it always does. So, apologies for not writing this post sooner! This week we’d like to tell you all about the food and drink options available at the concerts, providing a host of cuisine options that will cater for most taste buds.
The food-stands were probably not very visible at the last concert, which was a shame as that meant that many of the concert-goers seriously missed out! So, for the concert on the 8th of January, we’re rectifying that and they’ll all be situated behind the information booth near the band-stand – we think this will make things a lot easier and more accessible for everyone.
So, what’s on offer then? Well, there’s no shortage of options to choose from, that’s for sure. From cool-drinks to coffees to take-away meals, you’re bound to find something to hit the spot.
If you’re in the mood for rock ‘n roll retro fare, then head for Hippos Diner. They’re an American style mobile diner offering good old fashioned American diner fast food, but with a few home-grown tasty twists. Definitely a great choice for the family!
Fancy some gourmet grub on the go? Well, that’s entirely possible at Moreish Eatery. From gourmet burgers to slow roasted pork belly to sticky Mongolian beef no less, you’ll be dining in style while catching the show!
In the mood for something a little more exotic? Shawarma Express delivers delectable Middle Eastern schwarmas and falafels to go. With an array of refreshments on offer along with generous portions at affordable prices, that’s dinner sorted!
For those of the sweeter tooth persuasion, do visit the FrozenYo food-stand! They are SA’s first mobile frozen yoghurt food truck. Delighting Capetonians with servings of frozen yoghurty bliss, but with less of guilt! Look out for their turquoise and yellow truck and say hello to the FrozenYo mascot, Boris the pooch.
Coffee and Cream
Their slogan is ‘Coffee and Waffles, not particularly in that order’. Well, we concur – any order will do. Another great choice for families – waffles are always a hit with kids! Or, for that matter anyone in the mood for a tasty sweet treat.
Rolling Stock Catering
For some healthy, mouth watering cuisine, you need look no further than Rolling Stock! Defining what top quality food-on-the-go should be, these guys keep it simple and authentic as they serve up truly exceptional dishes that will tantalise your taste buds.
If you feel inclined towards festive food flavours, go for Dos Chido. Offering Mexican street food, they cater for private functions and film sets all over the Western Cape. Think tacos, nachos, Mexican style pitas and so much more. With friendly service and a festive vibe, they’re bound to get your taste buds dancing… we say, olé!
Wok This Way
Serving Asian fusion cuisine, Wok This Way is the go-to option for those of you who prefer the out-of-this-world flavours of the Far East. Serving up dishes such as hand-rolled Vietnamese spring rolls, tasty stir-fries, hot-wokked rice and noodle delights, they’ll tantalise your taste buds for sure. Also, all their meals can be adapted for vegetarians and vegans, which we think is very cool.
Fancy a taste of the islands? If so, be sure to visit the Wahine food truck. With all ingredients freshly prepared on site and cooked in a Polynesian style, they offer a healthy, balanced fast-food alternative, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. Come and try out their tropical taste sensations for yourself!
So, now that you know what delectable fare will be on offer, why not consider grabbing a bite at the concert. Dinner and a show as the sun sets – sounds good to us. And you’ll be supporting these local culinary entrepeneurs, which we think is rather a good idea too!
