Hi CITP fans! Well, sadly our concert series for this season is drawing to a close and our final concert will be happening on Sunday featuring Freshlyground, The Rudimentals and opening act Skyscrapers. It has been a fantastic series and every concert has been a delight. It’s always so heartening to see Cape Town communities from far and wide coming together to form one big concert community, and just having a wonderful time together. Whoever said ‘Capetonians’ aren’t friendly hasn’t been to a FREE Concert in the Park!
And aside from the sublime music we’ve enjoyed so far, there have also been a fair few giveaways! Our first Scar hair voucher & Jimmy Nevis signed CITP t-shirt has recently had her hair done and here is the pic!
Congratulations, Marguerite – your hair looks lovely!
We also had some winners from our most recent concert, featuring Hotwater & Mark Haze. That was such a lovely show, and so much fun! Mark Haze is such a fantastic musician; wow can he sing! He performed some of his classic hits, as well as his very catchy latest single, ‘Shake What Your Mama Gave You’. Headliners, Hotwater, had the crowd eating out of their hands. From Donavan Copley climbing a ladder on stage (literally!) to inviting members of the audience to come and dance with the band on stage. They featured well-known hits such as Wamkelekile as well as a lovely version of the Click song, sung by Xoliswa Tom. We’ll be posting the winners of this concert in our next blog.
We’re really looking forward to an epic final concert on Sunday. With such a fine line-up of artists performing, how can it not be? Youngsters band, Skyscrapers, will kicking off with catchy indie-pop tunes. If you haven’t heard of them or seen them, you should get to the park at 3pm on Sunday. These kids will blow your mind with their talent. Support band will be the inimitable Rudimentals – they have performed many times at our concerts and we just love them. They have so much energy, and are such amazing performers. Our final act will be Freshlyground!! What can we say… they are such brilliant musicians and we’re super-excited to have them finish off this series for us (we might be in danger of being star-struck on Sunday ;)!
So, that’s it for this post – get to De Waal Park on Sunday at 3pm. Miss this one and you’ll have to wait till next summer to see another one. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Sunday!
